1. Look for a company positioned in a hot, fast growing market. For example, the health and weight loss markets are blazing hot right now. With the baby boomers hitting retirement age and looking to retain their youth, this market will continue to be fed.
2. Look for companies in this market that have not completed their momentum phase. Momentum is a phase many network marketing companies go through where there is rapid growth in about a 2-year span of time. It is believed that it's easier to build an organization during this phase because of the massive marketing push done by many distributors puts the company's name out in the public eye.
3. Look for an establish company. Considering that 90% of all businesses fail within the first 5 years of operation, you'll want to find a company that is at least 5 years old. At that age they are past their growing pains and the company should be running smoothly in a clear direction.
4. What is the credibility of the people behind the company? Does the management previous have success running a network marketing company? How was that company set up and marketed? What percentage of those people rose to the top? If the management had prior success, you have reason to expect they will do that again.
5. Look for a flagship product that gets results quickly. When distributors have to wait months to see the results of a product, they begin to doubt and don't create the buzz that will fuel their business. A buzz worthy product is fuel for growth.
6. Look for a fair pay plan that you understand and can explain. Many pay plans appear easy to understand because the first three levels are very simple. Then they become complicated and it can be difficult to meet the requirements to get paid. Make sure you understand what happens beyond the fourth level because, as most heavy hitters know, this is where your volume is and where most of your income comes from.
7. Look for a product with emotional appeal. Does the product help the person gain pleasure or avoid pain in some way that you can demonstrate? Will it help him or her lose weight, grow hair, be more popular, find true love? When a product changes a person's life in a profound and dramatic way, that person develops an emotional attachment to it. Testimonials help people to see the excitement of other people and helps them to see the changes in their own lives.
8. Is there real leadership in the team you are joining and will someone help you become a leader. Leaders make the big bucks. If you want to make a lot of money you have to be willing to be a leader. Leaders look for and help in the development of other leaders. Look for someone who knows what they are doing and is willing to take you under their wing.
